Active Travel Network Map Consultation – Phase 2
Walking, Wheeling and Cycling in Pembrokeshire - Help Shape Pembrokeshire’s Active Travel Network
Following a 12-week statutory consultation, that concluded in April this year, legislation requires councils to give the public an opportunity to confirm that their views have been properly considered. This consultation represents that next stage.
Pembrokeshire County Council is updating its Active Travel Network Map (ATNM) and are asking for your feedback on the following:
• Have they identified appropriate potential new routes?
• Have they correctly identified existing routes which could be improved?
• Are they accurate in our assessment of routes that already meet the agreed standards (existing routes)?
You can take the survey here https://datamap.gov.wales/survey/Pembrokeshire-AT-survey-two/. The map allows you to view proposed routes (known as future routes or existing ones that have been altered as a result of the initial consultation) and comment on whether these routes reflect what you want to see introduced or improved. Please note that this consultation does not include issues relating to Public Rights of Way or any Highway matters not associated with walking, wheeling or cycling as these are not covered in the Active Travel Network Map review.
Paper copies are available upon request by contacting the team at via email transportstrategy@pembrokeshire.gov.uk or by phone 01437 775182. Due to the extensive area covered, they can only provide hard copy plans for the specific area within your remit. Should any participants wish to take part in the consultation via a different format, they kindly ask that requests are submitted to team as soon as possible.
The consultation closes on Monday 28th September 2026.
Further information:
Under the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013, all local authorities in Wales must regularly review and enhance their walking, wheeling and cycling routes. The current map was approved by the Welsh Government in 2022, and PCC are now reviewing it to reflect the changes that have been made since then.
The consultation focuses on the main towns and villages in Pembrokeshire which have been selected by the Welsh Government as the designated localities in the County. These are: Fishguard / Goodwick, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Tenby, Saundersfoot, Haverfordwest, Neyland, Milford Haven, Johnston, Narberth and St Dogmaels.
